I could not be more obsessed or inspired by the octopus. Speaking as an artist, the colors, sizes, and endless shapes and forms of these creatures make the octopus a wonderful subject to recreate.
On this piece I loved playing with the contortions of the tentacles as they reached around the bronze pot. Some of the arms stretch to take hold of the rope and anchor, while others take on a free roaming form.
The patina, (coloring) on this pot features pain staking hand polishing of the metal. The polished edges and designs catch the light and make it sparkle and shine.
